Ocean Startup Project Names New Amplify Winners Advancing Clean Energy, Ocean Data and Waterway Restoration

CANADA (January 22, 2026) — The Ocean Startup Project (OSP) today announced the second round of startups selected for funding through Amplify, its collaborative commercialization program for high-potential Canadian ocean technology ventures. The selected companies are advancing solutions that range from container-based solar energy systems and autonomous ocean data platforms to nature-based systems that restore polluted waterways.

Through Amplify, companies can receive up to $25,000 in funds to support pilot projects, customer demonstrations and early deployments. The program is designed to close the gap between innovation and commercialization by helping startups validate their solutions with early customers and progress toward revenue, procurement and scale.

Following a competitive review process, the newest Amplify winners are:

  • REPWR (Waabaag Energy Corp) (Ontario): Developing a standardized, modular solar energy system that can be rapidly installed on shipping containers to provide renewable power for marine transportation and port logistics.

  • Sailbotix (British Columbia): Developing compact, affordable, long-duration autonomous vessels that make offshore and nearshore ocean data collection more accessible and scalable.

  • Lillianah Technologies (Nova Scotia): Restoring polluted waterways through a proprietary, diatom-based biofiltration system that removes excess nitrogen, carbon and organic pollutants using a scalable, low-capital, nature-based approach.

With this second round of Amplify, the Ocean Startup Project and its partners have now distributed a total of $100,000, supporting six high-potential Canadian ocean startups.

“Amplify is built for this pivotal stage, when breakthrough ocean technologies need more than capital alone,” said Paula Mendonça, Executive Director of the Ocean Startup Project. “By pairing targeted funding with a deeply connected national ecosystem, we help founders move from pilots to procurement, from validation to revenue, and from innovation to real-world impact. We see extraordinary ideas coming out of Canadian labs and founder teams, and what changes the game is getting those ideas into the hands of customers, into ports, vessels and waterways, and into the real operating conditions where adoption begins.”

Through Amplify, the selected startups work closely with OSP’s network of delivery partners to define and achieve key commercialization milestones, including pilot execution, customer validation and deployment readiness.

Amplify is part of OSP’s broader continuum of commercialization programming, developed over five years to support ocean startups from early validation through global scale. By co-designing initiatives with national delivery partners, OSP is strengthening Canada’s position as a global leader in ocean innovation and clean growth.
